Job Description:
At Regions, we are currently seeking a Collections Specialist I to conduct inbound and outbound collection calls for the purpose of resolving the delinquency status of past due customers. This is a fast paced environment where excellent customer service skills are crucial and proficiency in typing / keyboarding is huge plus.
Primary Responsibilities
Collects delinquent payments
Works with customers to prevent liquidation while minimizing company interest losses
Documents activity
This position requires the tracking of time and is eligible for overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 per week under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
This position may be incentive eligible.
High school diploma or GED
Skills and Competencies
Accurate typing, spelling and grammar skills
Familiar in applicable computer software systems to include word processing, databases and spreadsheets
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational and customer service skills
Good analytical and problem solving skills, including attention to detail
Additional Job Description
Answer phone calls from customers, attorneys, and other bank departments regarding loss mitigation requests and verify information through bank systems.
Determine if customer's situation is a short or long term hardship and if it qualifies for Loss Mitigation.
Monitor team email boxes to respond to customers and other bank departments regarding Loss Mitigation requests.
Complete referral for Loss Mitigation Processors and mail the appropriate package to the customer.
Assist in completing files by calling customers to follow up on items requested, ordering original loan files, etc. while updating all bank systems.
Additional Preferences
Excellent listening skills, with effective written and oral communication skills.
3+ years of collections experience and a strong knowledge of and ability to communicate all applicable laws and statutes as they pertain to collection efforts and Loss Mitigation.
Experience with and knowledge of extensions, forbearances, re-aging accounts, short sales, and deed-in-lieu.
Constant focus on customer service.
Ability to multi task and work in a fast paced production environment.
Ability to work proactively, independently, and in a team environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
