Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or higher
Two (2) years or more of experience in construction techniques and methods to include areas such as carpentry, plumbing, or electrical services
Knowledge of tools and equipment
Ability to lift over 50 pounds
Possession of a valid state issued driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover's Driver's Permit
Examples of Duties:
Inspects and maintains emergency generators to ensure reliable and efficient operation at all times; Repairs locks and doors on City facilities as needed; Performs a variety of general maintenance duties as required; Works closely with the carpenter to build, paint and install various projects, paints interior and exterior of city facilities, paints striping for street crosswalks, assembles and moves office furniture, remodel offices, build walls and install doors, hardware and base, crown and chair rail moldings. Performs general electrical work under the direction of the Journeyman Electrician, including running wire, conduits, plugs and switches and replacing damaged street lights and poles; works with the Journeyman Plumber, including running water and sewer lines and repairing water and sewer lines, setting up and coordinating special events. Organizes material lists and picks up materials for jobs as necessary. Enters work orders and purchase order requisitions. Hangs flags on light poles for holidays; Hangs decorations on light poles for Christmas and sets up other miscellaneous holiday decorations; provided needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar position. Keeps immediate supervisor informed concerning work progress; including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems; Attends meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas; Responds to citizens' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner; Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities; performs other related duties as necessary.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
